The Trinity
I’ve had another busy stretch and the weekend got away from me, so I’m afraid I’ll have to take the week off. To (hopefully) make it up to you, here’s a little something – a full-colour filler update, but this time complete with some shading and everything! This isn’t something I’ve had much practice at, and I’m very far from a pro at this, but hopefully it looks all right. Any impressions/comments are appreciated!
Here’s a question for whoever feels like answering: is the usual black-and-white format a pro or a con in your eyes? Does the lack of colour impact your enjoyment of the comic in any way? I don’t foresee that changing any time soon, due mostly to time restraints, but it’s something I’m curious about. Thanks. 🙂
New comics will resume next Monday! Thanks for the patience!
No, black-and-white is never an issue, though I had always thought Athena was a blonde or maybe a redhead. It trips me up sometimes to realize her hair’s actually pink.
I don’t mind B&W comics at all, but at the same time I generally find that color adds something to a comic, not distract from something. It often makes it simpler to follow the characters as well, as you have better visual cues.
All this reminds me of an artist who goes by the name of View / ForView who used to do purely B&W comic and wanted to switch to colored comics, so he created a comic called [url=http://spacepulp.thecomicseries.com/comics/first/]Space Pulp[/url] (has NSFW parts here and there, you were warned) entirely to train in coloring. It started of with fairly simple coloring and ended up with a pretty nice coloring quality.
And, offcourse, some artists are masters at dramatic coloring too, like the guys behind [url=http://romanticallyapocalyptic.com/159]Romantically Apocalypse[/url], but they’re done that stuff for many years now.
But everyone has to start somewhere, even if it’s only a few colored fillers to begin with. Don’t be afraid, and bring it on, I say. 🙂
Hrm … I thought comments used BB code here ?
Well, the spacepulp link was :

Sorry about the mess.
I do intend to play with colouring as much as I can, but I’ll likely stick with B&W for the actual comic unless I decide to “switch”. No idea if that will happen or not at this point, but if it does it’ll likely be a ways off. So it’s good to hear people are cool with B&W. 😉
The colors work excellently here. I love the subtle uses of shading.
Thank you, sir!! And I’ll keep practicing when I can.
Either way — whatever you’re comfortable with. I think I like the B&W better, but the color could grow on me.
That looks good. Thou shall stop sleeping from today on and start coloring instead 😀
But do not dare to use it as an excuse for fillers when the story reaches it’s most interesting point otherwise thou will get evil comments.
Well… I guess I did this to myself. Better put the coffee on. 😛
