Well, i guess i can understand Athena sorta. ^^
She’s supposed to be the goddess of wisdom too, but trying to teach some barbs wisdom sents you rather easy over the edge. ^^ So being a war-like goddess is good for stressrelease. :XD
In Greek mythology Canon wasn’t she like the top rival against the god of war (and Spartans) Ares, as well as being a goddess of war AND wisdom simultaneously? I think she was his sister too (but then most gods/goddesses were siblings in that canon).
I might be mis-remembering here.
If my memory serves me right (my last read of the odyssee and stuff was some time ago) most of the gods were childs of Zeus and therefor siblings. ^^
Athena is an odd mix and yes normally Ares would be the top war god, but i guess being namegiving patron of Athen have something to do with it, since the Athens weren’t that peaceful. :XD
Sorry, I misread your post a bit.
She was born the Goddess of War. But, she tries to be more strategic, or in control than Ares which is why she’s the Goddess of Wisdom. And, yes, she and Ares are both from Zeus and thus siblings. She was born from Zeus alone, and Ares is a legitimate son of Zeus and Hera.
Personally, I’d love it if they both had to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent and be utterly freaked out. You can’t actually fight the bad guys and have to hide in various ways- though if you are in the dark too long or see a monster too long you can go insane and be more easily spotted by monsters that way. It’s got great atmosphere.
Still very violent though as well as gritty and dark, especially given the backstory of the main character! But as a player you can’t really fight the monsters physically at all- you have to solve puzzles mostly to progress and avoid getting caught by hiding or running.
That sounds pretty interesting – I don’t have a ton of free time for games lately, but perhaps I should add that to “the list”?
So I know I’m making this pun at my own peril, but… uh…
Athena likes it rough?
